Pursuit Balance
Each cell chases one unique target and avoids one unique enemy. Equal distance weights guide single-square moves; a rotating compass settles ties and frees stalled cells.

Approach one. Avoid another.
- 01Every cell has one fixed random target and one fixed random enemy. Each identity is targeted exactly once and avoided exactly once.
- 02Minimize target distance minus enemy distance. Both count equally, at every distance. Choose a non-worsening neighbor; compass order breaks ties.
- 03After 8 motionless turns, ignore the score and scan from the current compass for the first empty neighbor. Occupied squares and competing arrivals still block movement.
All decisions use the same beginning-of-turn positions. Each compass turns 45° afterward. There is no capture or retargeting. Two cells share target/enemy roles; a lone cell can still make a stalled compass escape.
Click a cell to pause and inspect its target, enemy and candidate scores. Light marks show compass direction.
