Neutral deploymentsNeutral for everyone

Released cells are omitted from everyone’s birth and survival counts while neutral. Ingestion and occupied space always see them.

Neutrality turns7

X counts the next X Life updates after release; zero disables the effect. Timers age inside pockets too. Duration changes apply to future releases; the switches affect current timers.

Deployment grants immunity

A successful deployment protects its parent in the next Life update, without spending a stored cell. Failed attempts grant nothing. Stored cells never substitute for death.

Fixed compasses

Each new cell draws one of eight headings and keeps it for life. A surviving host releases one stored child into that exact direction if empty. Fresh intake waits until next turn. No rotation, sidestep or fallback.

The host stays put. The released child keeps its own heading and nested contents; its former slot becomes empty. Tied destinations stop every claimant.

Older saved openings adopt child deployment without host movement; their trajectories change. Life masks are preserved; older openings adopt the new neutrality and immunity defaults. Stored-cell sacrifice is removed.

Current composition

01Decide Life from frozen neighbors after neutrality exclusions: B2568/S568.
02Commit Life. Last turn’s successful deployment protects the host; otherwise death removes the host and all contents.
03Count all visible cells again, including neutral ones. A living cell with exactly one neighbor proposes ingestion into it. Mutual pairs stay visible.
04Hosts accept clockwise from their fixed heading into the first empty slots. Full hosts leave excess cells outside.
05Hosts release their lowest eligible stored child into their fixed heading if empty. The host stays; the slot empties. All tied claims stay stored.

New intake and deployed arrivals wait until next Step. Try Pocket trios with birth off and survival 0, 1 and 2: ingest first, then release a child while retaining the host. Neutral cells still follow their own Life rules. No stored child is consumed for protection.
