What to explore
Dense local Life should nucleate visible cores, recruit connected tissue over time, share a locally derived heading, transpose, deform on contact, release, and form again. Success requires repeated macro bodies and movement without early saturation; a visually plausible first few frames are insufficient.
Rules, update order and replay
Free cells follow editable B3/S23 by default. Selected living-neighbor counts nucleate cores before ordinary Life can remove them. Each core derives a unique heading from its local first spatial moment; exact symmetry rests. Core signals propagate through living tissue one Moore ring per generation, carrying heading, depth, lease and movement clock. Agreeing bound cells later make local departure and arrival claims for one-cell transposition. Conflicting strongest signals rest or remain free; contested movement deforms/releases affected tissue without a global stop. Recovery cells follow Life but cannot immediately renucleate. State includes occupancy, role, heading, depth, clocks/leases, recovery, and arrival/conflict evidence. All reads and commits are synchronous. Replay requires the complete state, generation, configuration, topology, profile, initial mode, and seed/density. Reset reconstructs all hidden layers.
Reading the simulation
Blue cores, depth-graded cyan binding, amber recovery, pale arrivals, and coral conflicts are causal evidence. Inspection reports independent Life result, core qualification, asymmetry vector, proposed/inherited heading, depth, clock, incoming claims, cohesion/recovery, and exact next role; a dashed outline marks an outgoing target. Every palette meaning also appears in context, legend, and written inspector output.
Reproduce an opening
Download the example above, open the simulation, expand the controls, then use Share & reproduce → Import JSON. The example uses authored rules and a fixed seeded starting field; it is independent of the site’s editable default composition. Import starts paused at Step zero.
Share links and JSON reproduce the configured starting conditions, including hidden layers rebuilt by Reset. They do not save an evolved board, hand-painted cells, speed or display preferences. Determinism applies to the same rule version and Step sequence; real-time playback rates vary by device.
Larger fields and more involved rules can reduce playback speed. Read the configuration format and automated-access guide for compatibility details.
